The College of Business at the University of Illinois at Champagne Urbana promotes forward thinking in every way, from its newest construction project to its highly acclaimed Hoeft Technology and Management Program.
The University of Illinois at Champagne-Urbana (C-U) has a student body of over 30,000 undergraduates and 10,000 graduate students each year. Equidistant to both Chicago and Indianapolis (and only slightly further from St. Louis), this school is certainly outside the realm of any major metro area. With its population of just over 200,000, the C-U area is often referred to as a “micro-urban community”.
A major highlight of the campus is the new Business Instructional Facility (BIF), an award-winning architectural feat of “green” construction and design practices. As the first business structure to be recognized on the platinum level through the U.S. Green Building Council, this achievement demonstrates the fact that after 141 years, the University—and the College of Business, in particular—is serious about keeping up and investing in the future.
The futures of students graduating from C-U look bright, as well: In 2010-2011, the university ranked first among the Big Ten for starting and mid-career salaries. Graduates and faculty include 22 Nobel Prize winners and 20 Pulitzer Prize winners, some of whom may be participants in the College of Business Alumni Mentors Program. As alumni of C-U, students also have access to lifetime e-mail addresses (@bus.illinois.edu) to use throughout their careers.
Undergraduate programs all require 27 credit hours in the major field of study. They include the following:
• Management with a concentration in General Management
• Management with a concentration in International Business
• Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship
• Marketing
• Business Process Management
• Information Systems & Information Technology
• Supply Chain Management
While U-C has been touted as a top-ranked public university by US News and World Report and the best value in public education by the Princeton Review, the College of Business and the College of Engineering have received high accolades individually, as well. According to US News, the College of Engineering is ranked 6th, and the College of Business is ranked 14th. These rankings make the combined Hoeft Technology and Management Program (T&M) a singular opportunity. This program is open to an elite selection of undergraduates already enrolled in the two colleges; those students are invited to work side-by-side with the T&M’s corporate partners to develop key leaders that will shape the future of technology and business, as an integrated field.
In addition to the Hoeft program, the graduate segment of the College of Business at C-U offers twoMBA programs: a full-time program and a Professional MBA. An Executive MBA is also offered at the Chicago campus, and the Warsaw Executive MBA is available through a partnership with the University of Warsaw, in Poland.
