Graduation is coming up fast. You know you want to go to college, but you’re not entirely sure what you want to major in. You’ve done well in your math classes, and you might even secretly enjoy mathematics. You’ve also been told you’re a really good team captain, debate leader, or club president. A business major at the right business school might be the perfect major to pursue.
There are many different types of colleges that offer excellent business programs online and at traditional campuses, both locally and far away. A major in business could lead to so many different jobs. You wonder how you would ever find a school you like. Keep in mind that you may be majoring in business, but there are many different types of degrees you can get and concentrations or specializations you can focus on.
Some of the different types of degrees you can get are:
Bachelors of Arts (this means you will most likely have more humanities-type classes to take)- Bachelors of Science (this obviously means there will be more math and science classes required for you to take)
- Bachelors of Business Administration
- Bachelors of Public Affairs
- Bachelors of Science in Business
- Bachelors of Science in Business Administration
- Hotel, Restaurants, and Institutional Management
- Telecommunications Systems Management
There are even more types of concentrations you can choose from. Some programs may even require you to choose more than one concentration. Examples of some concentrations are:
- Business Management
- Entrepreneurship
- Accounting
- Finance
- Marketing
- Advertising
- Business Administration
- Business Communications
- Business Operations
- Commerce or E-Commerce
- Hotel Management
- Information Systems
- Information Technology
- Insurance
- Insurance Billing and Coding
- Non-Profit Management
- Organizational Management
- Restaurant Management
There are, of course, many other types of concentrations and degrees that you can get in the pursuit of a business degree. Sit down and think of what type of job you would like to have after you graduate, and then see if you can find any schools that offer a concentration in that area. You may have to do a bit of detective work before you find a few schools that have what you’re looking for and feel you would be comfortable attending. After that, be prepared to log in more hours in applying to those schools. After you’ve applied, the hard work is over, and you can look forward to the day you get responses back from the schools.
